about us

Built in Barcelona, by people who design buildings.

C4B is a product by (embrace ideas), a small team working on a brighter, more resilient future for the built environment. We are structural engineers, architects and software developers who got tired of climate analysis showing up at the end of a project, when it is too late to change anything. So we built the tool we wanted to use ourselves.

The people behind your climate + energy analytics

When you write to us, one of these people answers.

Andrea Hektor

Andrea Hektor

Founder & CEO

Structural Engineer, PE, SE (California, Oregon). Cornell University.

The CEA (Chief Executive Andrea) designs structures for complicated buildings while simultaneously masterminding development of C4B. They prefer being on a bicycle in the mountains of Catalunya to being in the office, but unfortunately life is not always fair.

Augusto Zamperlini

Augusto Zamperlini

C4B Lead

Senior Architect and Urban Planner

Brings his architect’s perspective to how the platform looks and works, which also means asking why the graphic looks like that. Usually found walking Kibe somewhere in Barcelona.

Pablo Ítalo

Pablo Ítalo

Head of Technology

CTO / Senior Software Engineer

Keeps the whole stack running, from code and architecture to infrastructure. If you never think about it, he’s doing it right. Outside of work, he’s eating his way through a city he’s never been to.

Timo Schaele

Timo Schaele

Sustainability Specialist

Civil Engineer, Building Physicist

Turns climate analysis into recommendations for climate-responsive design, drawing on his experience in sustainability consulting. On weekends, he explores the nature around Barcelona by bike.

Simone Palmieri

Simone Palmieri

Technical Architect

(Structural Engineer)

With a perspective somewhere between an engineer's and an architect's, he helps develop several of the platform's modules. Off the clock, he recharges with his cats or a good video game.

Corina Robea

Corina Robea

Senior Structural Engineer

She likes turning architectural ideas into practical solutions through creative problem-solving and collaboration. Outside the office, she enjoys running, hiking and getting lost in a good book.

Kibe, the office dog

Kibe

Support Staff

Boosts the office atmosphere with his presence in meetings and coffee breaks, reminding the team to take screen breaks. Outside the office, he takes Augusto out for long walks.

who we are

One studio, three ways to build better

(embrace ideas) is our umbrella company, founded by Andrea Hektor to help make buildings respond to their local climate. Our goal is for historic and future climate to shape the built environment from the start of projects, not arrive as an afterthought. Climate for Buildings, (embrace structures) and (embrace sustainability) all grew from that same goal, and share one team and one studio in Barcelona.

C4B as an idea came from our practical experience on project work. We wanted site-specific climate data early in design, in addition to advice on how to make that information actionable on the project. Getting the data and design direction was consistently slow, expensive or locked inside specialist teams—and we knew it didn’t need to be. So we built a platform to change that.

(embrace ideas)

The umbrella company.

Climate for Buildings (C4B)

A platform that turns site-specific climate data into guidance architects and engineers can use from day one.

embrace structures

Structural design and review across every project phase.

embrace sustainability

Climate-conscious design consulting for developers, owners and design teams.

what we believe

Why we work the way we do

Climate-conscious design is for every budget

Good climate decisions should not depend on hiring a specialist team. Many of the most effective choices are made early, before they cost anything extra.

Data should be open and easy to read

Information and tools should be transparent and accessible to developers, owners and architects, not only to large firms.

Climate belongs at the start

Not a compliance checkbox at the end, but the starting point for passive strategies like orientation, shading and natural ventilation.
